Art Rock Show – Hellfire (Week 43)

Black midi is een Londense band die in 2018 doorbrak met een experimentele post-punk avant-jazz math rock combinatie. Met een verrassende virtuositeit voor een stel muzikanten die net van de middelbare school kwamen. De band bestaat uit Geordie Greep (zang, gitaar), Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin (zang, gitaar), Cameron Picton (zang, basgitaar, synths) en Morgan Simpson (drums).

Louis Van Keymeulen van Indiestyle: “De laatste jaren dwingt Black Midi de hele progrockscène op z’n knieën, en dat doen ze schijnbaar zo moeiteloos dat je er haast boos van zou worden. De prille twintigers spelen en performen alsof ze al vijf decennia op de planken staan. Hun gedreun is muzikaaltechnisch gesofisticeerd, maar gebracht met een postmoderne kwinkslag.
