11th Art Rock Show: The Revenant

Een paar dagen geleden kreeg Leonardo DiCaprio eindelijk een Oscar voor zijn rol in de bloedmooie film ‘The Revenant’. Deze show begint dan ook met de volledige soundtrack van ‘The Revenant’. De muziek voor deze film is gecomponeerd door Ryuichi Sakamoto en Alva Noto. Additionele muziek werd gecomponeerd door Bryce Dessner van The National.

Justin Davidson van New York magazine: “Ryuichi Sakamoto, who came to film from a career in experimental electronics… Sakamoto’s is the more successful score. Both films slouch toward inevitable spasms of bloodshed, with long pensive stretches in between…

Sakamoto slowly progresses through glacial chords that build toward a fortissimo horizon… The score doesn’t so much follow the action here as lead it, urging the fighters on, even as it registers their single-minded lunacy.”

Naast Ryuichi Sakamoto met The Revenant krijg je deze week: Björk (Vulnicura), Gerard (The Ruins Of A Glass Fortress), Mono (Rays of Darkness), Mogwai (The Hawk is Howling), Battlestations (The Death Of The Day) and Philip Glass (Koyaanisqatsi).
