Week 13 – Art Rock – Solitude

Niets leuker dan een band met een eigen smoel en een eigen geluid. IO Earth klinkt eerlijk gezegd uniek en laat een veelheid aan stijlen horen. Veel kwalificaties zijn op de muziek van toepassing: symfonisch, orkestraal, klassiek, folk, jazz, wereldmuziek enz. enz.

The Prog Mind review: “Solitude is truly an electric album with extensive orchestrations and cinematic flairs. The band doesn’t always use this to create the same climactic song structures over and over, but instead experiment with various loud/soft techniques and ambient portions that add personality and the feeling of scale and height.

The performances are masterful, as well. As I said, Rosanna has a great voice that really matches and keeps up with the music. Dave is one of the best guitarists in prog today.… Read more...

Week 12 – Art Rock – Frequency Rhythm Distortion Delay

Psychic Lemon werd opgericht eind 2013 te Cambridge, Kent, Engeland. De band liet zich muzikaal inspireren door bands als Goat, The Heads, Amon Düül II, Syd Barrett en Ibibio Sound Machine en trad op festivals als Strawberry Fair te Cambridge en Solstice festival te Moonhenge op, na hun eerste optreden in oktober 2014.

Carry Munter van de blog New Underground Music: “Het album, dat 5 nummers bevat, start met “Exit To The Death Lane” en daarin hoor ik de band een geweldige swingende psychedelische mix van krautrock en dance spelen, die een sterk hypnotiserend ritme bevat en tevens spacerock invloeden heeft.
Daarna zet de band me “Hey Droog!” voor en krijg ik een fantastisch hypnotiserend progressief rock nummer te horen, waarbij stil zitten niet aan de orde is.… Read more...
