TONITE LET’S ALL MAKE LOVE IN LONDON

“A FILM BY PETER WHITEHEAD  ** THE COMPLETE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK RELEASED FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1968! ** INCLUDES THE PINK FLOYD’S ‘INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE’ & CLASSIC HITS ‘OUT OF TIME’; ‘HERE COME THE NICE’ & MORE!

This newly restored and remastered edition of the soundtrack to Peter Whitehead’s first commercial film made during the Summer Of Love 1967. Tonite Lets All Make Love In London is a unique commentary of London during a time when the world said it was the first city, the soundtrack features The Pink FloydSmall FacesChris FarloweVashti and more, with spoken-word contributions from Mick JaggerMichael Caine, Andrew Loog OldhamDavid HockneyAllen Ginsberg and more.
As Andrew Loog says in the sleeve notes:  “The people in the film created the different image for everyone, their contributions are reflected in the attitudes and music contained in this album.” (Source:  http://www.charly.co.uk/albums/tonite-lets-all-make-love-in-london/)

Peter Whitehead on recording The Pink Floyd:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m8rOjlsM7o

“Whitehead’s film captured perfectly London’s mid-to-late ‘60s apex as the center of art, fashion, and music on the world stage. Remastered from original master tapes found in the CBS vaults, the soundtrack for Tonite Lets All Make Love In London is an important artifact of a fleeting moment in pop culture history, its music and interviews (including Allen Ginsberg’s brilliant reading of his poem from which the film takes its name) offering a glimpse into the window of the increasingly-distant past”.  Source: http://www.thatdevilmusic.com/2017/07/cd-review-tonite-lets-all-make-love-in.html

P.P. ARNOLD: THE TURNING TIDE https://www.pparnold.com/category/news/

RADIO 68 PLAYS
the entire album ‘The Turning Tide’ + Arnold covers two songs by Blood, Sweat and Tears > Radio 68 plays several songs from the BS&T album from 1969 + Arnold recorded several songs by  Maurice and Barry Gibb (who also produced), songs they would also record on their album CUCUMBER CASTLE, 1979 > Radio 68 plays some tracks from that LP plus the odd song by ROBIN GIBB who had left the band  to go solo  (LP ‘ROBIN’s REIGN’) + tracks by her friends THE SMALL FACES from Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake.

THE TURNING TIDE
(…) “Arnold made the recordings in London, where she arrived in the mid-1960s as a member of Ike & Tina Turner’s Ikettes. She sang with trendsetting chart regulars Small Faces, who were signed to Andrew Loog Oldham’s Immediate label, and then got her own deal with the label, scoring a top 20 U.K. hit with Cat Stevens’ “The First Cut Is The Deepest” and several other chart singles including “Angel Of The Morning.”. (…)Eight of the ten or so tracks that Arnold recorded with Gibb are on The Turning Tide, including “Turning Tide” itself, which the Bee Gees recorded for 1970’s Cucumber Castle. The trio’s expanding success at the time prevented Gibb from completing the sessions, whereupon Stigwood landed Arnold the opening slot on Clapton’s post-Blind Faith tour with Delaney & Bonnie and Friends. Clapton, impressed with her vocal prowess, readily agreed to complete the album sessions, using the Delaney & Bonnie touring band that became Derek and the Dominos, as well as vocalists Rita Coolidge and Doris Troy. But even then, the recordings became entangled in business issues that are finally resolved now, the better part of 50 years later” (Source; all rights reserved: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/7882318/pp-arnold-lost-album-barry-gibb-eric-clapton

ABOUT LONGPLAYTIME

Radio 68 is happy to present  a new show: MY GENERATION LONGPLAYTIME. The concept of LONGPLAYTIME is simple: we will play full albums, album sides or selected album tracks.  We stress overlooked, forgotten, ignored, misjudged, rare, non-commercial and media-banned music and artists, throwing in a hit album for good measure. All from or related to the sixties –  of course! Thanks, Ed   **
Bedankt, Ed
