SPECIAL NEW SHOW: JOHN FIDDLER

Singer, composer, guitarist, harmonica player John Fiddler was one half of Medicine Head. He was instrumental in recording and producing the first reincarnation of The Yardbirds, knows as Box of Frogs. He later joined BIRITSH LIONS with Ray Majors and eventually embarked on a solo career, which lasts till the present day. John Fiddler is also a graphic artist and a poet.

SPECIAL REPEATED SHOW : DAVY O’LIST

If you ever wondered who shaped that innovative sound on the first LP of The Nice (The Thoughts Of Emerlist Davjack, Immediate, 1967) and the brilliant single taken from that album, the answer is here: in David O’List’s new solo album “Second Thoughts”. Davy calls it the suquel to the First Thoughts, those of Emerlist Davjack. Listen to snippets of the exclusive Radio 68 interview with Davy O’List.
Lest you forget: Davy O’List was instrumental (!) in shaping the guitar sound of The Attak, played in P.P. Arnold’s band, depped for Syd Barrett in The Pink Floyd, helped launch that band called Roxy Music. It’s been a long time coming, but “Second Thoughts” has arrived.

BLUESIDE
Show
A new 60 minute episode of My Generation Blueside followed by the previous show, totalling two hours of the blues that influenced and inspired the sounds of the sixties – from the originators till the present day. Each show includes a special highlighting one artist, release, topic or trend.
Show Time
First airing Sundays at 14:00 hrs * Repeated: Sundays at 18:00 hrs, 22:00 hrs and 2 in the morning + Mondays 14:00 hrs ** RADIO 68 TIME = Central European Time (CET), for example: 14:00 hrs CET = 1 p.m.
SPECIAL NEW SHOW: TERRY GIBSON aka Terry CLEMSON (Downliners Sect and more)
THE DOWNLINERS were named after a Jerry Lee Lewis b-side – “Down the Line” , Jerry Lee Lewis being a favourite of founder Don Craine. Don Craine started the band in 1962 as a school band. They played Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Gene Vincent, but were also among the first to play rockin’ R&B, very much like their contemporaries The Rolling Stones.
After a comprehensive personnel change, the band was called THE DOWNLINERS SECT and this was the most famous line-up featuring founder Don Craine, bass-player Keith Grant-Evans, drummer Johnny Sutton, harp player Ray Sone – later replaced by Pip Harvey – and guitarist Terry Gibson, aka Terry Clemson. They recorded a string of singles, two EPS and no less than 3 albums between 1964 and 1967. Regretfully, their records didn’t sell well, except in Sweden where the band had a huge following. At any rate, The Downliners Sect must be remembered as pioneers of the British R&B boom.
After the DOWNLINERS SECT, he played with THE HOUSESHAKERS, a rock’n’ roll band formed in 1969 that backed Gene Vincent , Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry! The Houseshakers released one LP, Demolition Rock, with good old rock’n’roll tunes. Terry Clemson is still active today – The TT’s are his current band. In this show, we stick to his SECT days.
This special is originally a show I made for Radio Sutch: listen to all the good sounds on Sutch and my R&B show The Savage Tree (Wednesdays) on www.radiosutch.net .
SPECIAL REPEATED SHOW: KIM SIMMONDS & SHEMEKIA COPELAND

KIM SIMMONDS
It’s simple: Kim Simmonds IS Savoy Brown. Has been for ages, ever since pillars like John O’Leary (harmonica) or Chris Youlden left the band. On this release, his 45th in some 50 years, Mr. Simmonds sings and plays the guitar and the harmonica. He also wrote all 13 songs. Some tunes are average, but Simmonds never does anything below standard.
“I just received the newest release, The Devil To Pay, from Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown and I must say it’s really hot! I have been a Kim Simmonds/Savoy Brown fan since high school and I’ve seen band changes both good and bad. Kim’s dedication to keep rocking after 50 years and 45 albums is amazing and a testament to someone who loves what they are doing. Opening with Ain’t Got Nobody, Simmonds leads right into a masterful guitar intro” (,http://www.bmansbluesreport.com/2015/10/ruf-records-artist-kim-simmonds-and.html
SHEMEKIA COPELAND
When I first saw her perform live on the main stage at Cognac’s Blues Passion festival, I was not impressed at all and my thoughts wondered off to Johnny Copeland, that brilliant blues guitarist. But that was then and this is now: “at her most charismati, performing blues, roots rock and Amerivana with power and authority, nuance and shade (…)” .
