THE ROLLING STONES: HONK
“‘Honk’ is een ‘opvolger’ van de verzamelrelease ‘Forty Licks’ (2002) en ‘GRRR!’ (2012) met een aantal tracks die nog niet eerder op een verzamelaar zijn verschenen, zoals Out Of Control (‘Bridges To Babylon’), Out Of Tears (‘Voodoo Lounge’) en tracks van het blues album ‘Blue & Lonesome’. Het is niet zozeer een Greatest Hits maar een Best of..Het meest interessante is de derde cd van de deluxe-versie. Deze bevat tien live-opnames, opgenomen tijdens onder meer de ‘No Filter Tour’ in 2017 en 2018, en een aantal live-duetten waaronder met Dave Grohl en Ed Sheeran. Een Nederlands tintje zit er ook aan deze release: Dancing With Mr. D is opgenomen in Gelredome, Arnhem in oktober 2017 en Shine A Light in de Johan Cruijff Arena (toen nog Amsterdam Arena) in september 2017.
The Rolling Stones zijn de laatste twee decennia behoorlijk actief met releases. Naast de uitgaven van Eagle Vision, zoals ‘Some Girls – Live in Texas ’78’ (2011), ‘Sweet Summer Sun’ (2013) en ‘Havana Moon’ (2016) zijn er ook nog de ‘From The Vault’ releases, met ‘Hampton Coliseum’ (Live 1981), ‘L.A. THE ANIMATED EGG
“The Animated Egg were a studio-only group that issued a self-titled album of psychedelic instrumentals in the late ’60s. It’s now known that the chief instigator behind the Animated Egg was renowned Los Angeles session guitarist  Jerry Cole,  whose fuzzy leads (with some electric 12-string, surf, and Latin lines as well) dominate the arrangements.  Colealso wrote the material, and though he was unsure of the other personnel when asked about the LP m any years later, possible accompanists include Billy Preston. Despite the high instrumental talent involved, they sound rather like it was thrown together in the studio to capitalize on the fad for psychedelic sounds (…)”.  Source, All Rights Reserved allmusic.com Artist Biography by Richie Unterberger
