“Like a fine wine, Joey Gilmore gets better with age. At 72 he’s sounding as good as he did when he was 36. That’s right, I’m happy to say that Joey and I have been friends for exactly 36 years now. When I first moved to Florida in 1980, Joey was – and still is – the king of the local blues scene. As a matter of fact, I saw him one week ago today – just five days after he was released from the hospital – and he was still electrifying the audience as he came down from the stage playing stinging guitar licks while walking amongst them.
(…) ° Being a “Man Of My Word” (D. Walker), when I tell you that on this opening track you’re going to hear some of the best gravely voiced, heartfelt and soulful vocals you’ve ever heard, you can place a bet on it. This is classic and signature Joey Gilmore. Musically, the track’s a monster as well: there’s Joey killing it on lead guitar; intense rhythm, led by Sonny on the organ; ear opening horn arrangements by Yoel; and it all culminates with Ivan closing it out with a delirious sixty second lead guitar highlight. Wow!”

LEON RUSSELL 2 april 1942 – 13 november 2016
“Leon became part of an elite group of studio musicians called the Wrecking Crew and played on hundreds of hit records in the 1960’s (…) . Leon co-produced, arranged, and played piano, organ, and guitar on Joe Cocker’s second album, ‘Joe Cocker!’ in 1969. He also recorded and toured with ‘Delaney & Bonnie & Friends’. Leon founded Shelter Records with partner Denny Cordell and released Leon’s first solo album, “Leon Russell” in May, 1970. It included Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr, Rolling Stones Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts, Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, and Klaus Voorman. The album contained classic Leon songs, ‘A Song For You’, along with ‘Hummingbird’, and ‘Delta Lady’. Shelter Records was home for not only Leon but many other artists such as Freddie King, Don Nix, J.J. Cale, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Gap Band, Dwight Twilley and Phoebe Snow. Leon played on and produced three Shelter albums for blues guitarist Freddie King.
Leon organized and led the band behind Joe Cocker for the famous “Mad Dogs & Englishmen” tour of the U.S. in March-May, 1970. The huge 11 member band included 3 drummers and a 10 member choir which played 65 shows in 48 cities. The tour was filmed for the movie “Mad Dogs & Englishmen”. The live double-LP album on A&M Records reached #2 on the U.S. album charts and sold over a million copies.
On August 1st, 1971, Leon joined George Harrison and friends for two performances of the Concert For Bangladesh at Madison Square Garden in New York to raise money for refugees. His “Jumpin’ Jack Flash/Youngblood” medley was considered the highlight of the show by some. (source Leon Russell oficial website)
Radio 68 plays tracks from his more recent albums ‘Snapshot’ (2013) ad ‘Life Journey’ (2014), plus collaborations with Joe Cocker (he was the musical director of the Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour), George Harrison (Concert for Bangla Desh), The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Duck Dunn and Freddie King.

“Suzy Starlite and Simon Campbell are seasoned songwriters and musicians. They started the band in January 2016, co-writing the new blues album ‘Blueberry Pie’ released last April (2016).
Suzy Starlite is a vocalist, songwriter, bass-player, guitarist and keyboardist. She was a member of folk-rock band Megiddo,. In 2012, she formed the band Starlite and drafted in Simon on guitar.
Simon Campbell is a guitar player, vocalist, songwriter and record producer. He was signed to Polydor Records in the early 90’s and released an albums with Little Brother and The Disciples.
