Dream Theater is een Amerikaanse progressieve-metalband, opgericht door drie studenten van het Berklee College of Music midden jaren 80. De bandleden staan bekend om hun technische bekwaamheid op hun instrumenten, waarvoor ze veel onderscheidingen van muziekbladen hebben gekregen.

Mario van Os van Prog Wereld: “Het album “Parasomnia” is dus een conceptalbum met als thema ‘Het theater van de dromen’. Zoals al aangehaald erg toepasselijk voor de band met deze naam. De instrumentale opener doet erg denken aan de opening van “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory”. In dat album was het nummer Regression bedoeld om in een hypnose terecht te komen, terwijl we nu met In The Arms Of Morpheus in een droomtoestand geraken.
