Rock On! Wednesday, 8 Janary 2025 – Rush, Journey, Boston, Junipher Greene & Wishbone Ash

Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Dan’s pick of the week: Rush (Hemispheres), Journey (Journey), Boston (Don’t Look Back), Junipher Greene (Friendship) & Wishbone Ash (Live Dates).

Sputnik Music review: “Hemispheres” continues the band’s explorations of their musical style and marks the peak of what I consider Rush’s golden era, the years between 1976 and 1981. “Hemispheres” is the second studio album of them that belongs to their second musical phase. It comprises also their fifth studio album “A Farewell To Kings” released in 1977, their seventh studio album “Permanent Waves” released in 1980 and their eighth studio album “Moving Pictures” released in 1981.… Read more...

Art Rock Show – Compassionizer – The Fellowship of the Mystery (Week 1)

(Bandcamp)

Prog Archives review: “The new album by Compassionizer, “The Fellowship of the Mystery”, continues Ivan Rozmainsky and his team’s bold experiments in musical artistry. As with the band’s previous works, biblical references in the track titles provide the the album with structural cohesion and profound meaning. The second track, “Avenge Not Yourselves”, immerses listeners in an atmosphere of austere contemplation. Its slow, meditative melodies invite introspection, preparing the audience for the album’s subsequent explorations.… Read more...

Art Rock Show – Anubis – The Unforgivable (Week 51 & 52)

The Progressive Aspect (TPA) review: “I’m delighted to report that The Unforgivable still gives that neo-prog kick that fans will be used to, albeit in a more streamlined form. The album features ten shorter tracks that make up its 46-minute runtime. The downside is that this leads to fewer standout tracks and definitely nothing to compare with The Holy Innocent, but the upside is that the whole album becomes an epic itself; there are no gaps between the songs so one could treat this as a long suite of music.… Read more...
