Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Dan’s pick of the week: May Blitz (May Blitz), Jade Warrior (Jade Warrior), Lucifer’s Friend (I’m Just A Rock ‘n’ Roll Singer), Warhorse (Warhorse) & Cream (Wheels of Fire).

De groep werd in 1969 gevormd door bassist Terry Poole en drummer Keith Baker, de ritmesectie van het bluesrocktrio Bakerloo, die beiden de groep verlieten toen gitarist Clem Clempson vertrok om zich bij Colosseum aan te sluiten. Jamie Black voegde zich bij de groep op zang en gitaar, maar zowel Poole als Baker verlieten de groep voor de opnames. Poole en Baker voegden zich respectievelijk bij Vinegar Joe en Uriah Heep. Black voegde vervolgens mede-Canadees Reid Hudson toe op bas en Tony Newman, die met Jeff Beck, The Hollies en Sounds Incorporated had gespeeld, op drums.… Read more...

Art Rock Show – Nuova Era – 20.000 Leghe sotto i mari (Week 23)

Nuova Era werd in 1985 in Florence opgericht door toetsenist en componist Walter Pini. De historische line-up bestond uit Gianluca Lavacchi op drums, Enrico Giordani op bas, Alex Camaiti op gitaar en zang. De teksten waren van Ivan Pini.

Jacopo Vigezzi van Progressive Rock Journal: “The band Nuova Era could not have found a more apt name as in my opinion one of the main exponents of the new wave of Progressive Rock that invaded the world in the 1980s. With 7 albums to their credit they have confirmed themselves over the years as one of the best Italian Progressive Rock bands in terms of quality and execution of compositions. The new album “20.000 leghe Sotto I Mari,” was released on February 28, 2025 via AMS Records and contains a long suite over 36 minutes long, freely inspired by the literary masterpiece by French writer Jules Verne.… Read more...
