Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Dan’s pick of the week: Clivage (Mixtus Orbis), Flute & Voice (Imaginations Of Light), Osjan (Ksiega Deszczu), Magic Carpet (Magic Carpet), Vasant Rai (Autumn Song) & Ananda Shankar (Missing You – a Musical Discovery of India).

Clivage was een Frans etno/jazz-rockensemble dat tussen 1977 en 1978 twee albums uitbracht op Gratte-Ciel. Bandleider André Fertier liet de naam herleven voor nog een release op label-dochter F.L.V.M. in 1985.

Art Rock Show – Dominic Sanderson – Blazing Revelations (Week 15)

Dominic Sanderson, een jonge muzikant uit Wakefield (UK), haalt inspiratie uit Engelse bands als King Crimson, Pink Floyd en Marillion. In februari 2023 bracht Sanderson een album uit met de titel Impermanence. Het is een conceptalbum dat is beïnvloed door de klassieke progressieve rock sound van de jaren 70, maar met een eigentijds randje.

TheEliteExtremophile review: “Two years later, he’s back with his sophomore release, Blazing Revelations. Sanderson, covering guitar and vocals, is backed by four additional musicians, including a dedicated wind instrumentalist. The music maintains its dark edge, but he is much more clearly drawing directly from Van der Graaf Generator than on his previous release.
