Pancake – Roxy Elephant (1975)

Roxy Elephant is the debut album by the German progressive rock band Pancake, released in 1975. The band formed in Winnenden (near Stuttgart) from the psychedelic group Nyrvana Pancake. The album was originally released independently and falls within the genres of Krautrock, heavy prog and psychedelic rock.

Prog Archives review: “The rock style is more on the bluesy side jumping from various inspirations ranging from not only Wishbone Ash but also sounds that remind of Electric Sandwich as well as Birth Control and other heavier German proggers of the day only Pancake featured no keyboards and wielded their space effects through the twin guitar and bass motifs. Overall the band was quite skilled with tight knit tracks and an above average lead singer despite the slight accent.” (Wiki, Discogs, Prog Archives).
