Art Rock Show – War of the Worlds II (Week 28)

Symphony X oprichter en meesterbrein Michael Romeo keert terug met een knal! Op zijn 3de solo album, “War Of The Worlds, Pt. 2” levert hij weer een knap album af.

Arrow Lords of Metal review: “De muziek wordt gelardeerd met symfonische arrangementen, maar nergens verliest Romeo uit het oog dat hij een begenadigd metal gitarist is en dus zijn we ook getuige van beenharde riffs en klaterende virtuoze solo’s. Romeo werkte met dezelfde mensen op bas en drums, maar de zang – toch een erg belangrijk onderdeel – werd nu door de vrij onbekende Dino Jelusick verzorgd, aangedragen door producer Simone Mularoni. Wat die vocalist presteert is adembenemend! Je zou hem een Kroatische Russell Allen kunnen noemen en dat vergroot niet alleen de pret, maar legt eveneens een duidelijkere link met hoofdband Symphony X.… Read more...

Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Wednesday September 15th. Dan’s pick of the week: David Bedford (The Odyssey), Pierrot Lunaire (Pierrot Lunaire), Soft Machine (The Soft Machine), Samla Mammas Manna (Måltid) & Moving Gelatine Plates (The World of Genius Hans).

David Bedford was een Engelse componist en muziekpedagoog. Aan het einde van de jaren 60 speelde hij in de cultband The Whole World, wat hem opdrachten vanuit de rock-wereld bracht. Hij werkte ook samen met Mike Oldfield. Bedford deed ook orkestraties voor de films The Killing Fields (1984), Absolute Beginners (1986), Meeting Venus (1991) etc.
