Art Rock Show – Give It Back (Rewired) (Week 34)

The Pineapple Thief ontstond in 1999 uit de resten van de groep Vulgar Unicorn. Centrale man van The Pineapple Thief is Bruce Soord, een in Duitsland geboren musicus en componist. Tot 2002 blijft het een studioband, daarna wordt op veelvuldig verzoek van de fans een band geformeerd om concerten te geven.

Raymond van The Progspace: “Back in 2016 drummer Gavin Harrison (King Crimson, Porcupine Tree) joined the ranks of The Pineapple Thief, instantly adding a whole new dimension to the band’s overall sound. (…) In order to celebrate The Pineapple Thief’s current tour, they decided to release an album full of reworked songs from the band’s back catalogue, entitled “Give It Back (Rewired)”.”.

Gavin Harrison is no stranger to reworking and reimagining songs, as he released “Cheating The Polygraph”, an album full of reworked Porcupine Tree tracks in a jazz/fusion type musical setting back in 2015.… Read more...

Art Rock Show – Sacrae Symphoniae Nr. 1 (Week 27)

Weserbergerland is een experimenteel muziekproject bestaande uit verschillende Noorse muzikanten die verzameld zijn door ene Ketil Vestrum Einarsen. Hij is bekend van ondermeer White Willow, Jaga Jazzist, Motorpsycho, Panzerpappa en Kaukasus.

Prog Archives review: “What feels like a continuation of both the sound of 2020’s incredible Am Ende der Welt as well as the evolution of the Weserbergland sound and vision, we have here a headlong hypersonic immersion into a mind-blowing blending of the worlds of the acoustic and electronic–one in which acoustic instruments are merged seemlessly into one soundscape. Art Rock Show – Shade Without Color (Week 24)

Ghost Toast is een experimentele, instrumentale progressieve rock band uit Debrecen, Hongarije. De groep werd opgericht in 2008 door Bence Rózsavölgyi (gitaar), László Papp (drums) en János Stefán (basgitaar).

Mario van Os van Prog Wereld: “De muziek van Ghost Toast is een mix van zware instrumentale prog, geïmproviseerde symfonische metal, psychedelische en filmische muziek. Door de soepele overgangen van metal-achtige riffs naar zachte jazzy-intermezzo’s, verschuivingen van zachte meeslepende overpeinzingen naar heftige emotionele uitbarstingen en instrumentale improvisaties, blijft de muziek interessant. Dit album zit vol verrassingen en afwisseling, er is geen moment om te verslappen, want de volgende aanpassing of toon-variatie zit alweer in het verschiet. (…)
