Guet-Apens is het zesde studioalbum van de Franse progressieve rockband Ange en werd uitgebracht in 1978. We vinden nog steeds het typische geluid van de vorige albums, maar de teksten zijn meer eigentijds. De muziek werd onder invloed van de punk steviger, de productie is beter en Ange profiteerde van de aanzienlijke verbeteringen van de elektronische toetsinstrumenten.

Dan’s pick of the week: Return to Forever (Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy), Herbie Hancock (Head Hunters), Alphonse Mouzon (The Essence of Mystery), Weather Report (Heavy Weather), Al Di Meola (Land of the Midnight Sun) & Carlos Santana & John Mclaughlin (Love Devotion Surrender).

Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy is het derde studioalbum van de Amerikaanse jazzfusionband Return to Forever. De plaat werd in oktober 1973 uitgebracht door Polydor. Flora Purim, Joe Farrell en Airto Moreira werden vervangen door drummer Lenny White en gitarist Bill Connors. Maar het zou het enige album zijn met Bill Connors als gitarist, hij vertrok na de release en werd vervangen door Al Di Meola.… Read more...

Dan’s pick of the week: Happy the Man (Happy the Man), Egg (Egg), Asia Minor (Crossing the Line), National Health (Of Queues and Cures), Crack the Sky (Crack the Sky) & Van Der Graaf Generator (World Record).

De Amerikaanse progressieve rockband Happy The Man (HTM) werd in 1973 opgericht in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Ze werden genoemd naar een regel uit Goethe’s Faust. Gitarist Stanley Whitaker en bassist Rick Kennell ontmoetten elkaar voor het eerst in 1972 in Duitsland. Het vroege repertoire van de band omvatte een aantal covers Genesis, King Crimson en Van Der Graaf Generator.
