Art Rock Show – The Red Planet (Week 34)

Rick Wakeman behoeft geen introductie voor de prog fans. Een wereldberoemde Britse keyboardspeler, songwriter, producer, presentator en schrijver. Best bekend als toetsenist van Yes, de band waar hij een knipperlichtrelatie mee heeft…

Eric Schoolmeesters van Rockmuzine.nl: Het English Rock Ensemble, een band door hem opgericht in 1974, was de begeleidingsband. Dit Ensemble speelt ook op Wakeman’s nieuwe album “The Red Planet”, een conceptplaat die zeer aan de opzet van “The Six Wives” doet denken. Als je niet beter weet is het alsof er een sprong van 1973 naar 2020 wordt gemaakt en de massa’s tussenliggende albums niet bestaan. Op “The Red Planet” put hij geen inspiratie uit karakters van vrouwen, maar de verschillende grillige landschappen van planeet Mars, de rode planeet. Elk nummer heeft een titel die verwijst naar een van Mars’ landschappen, veelal vulkanische gebieden.… Read more...
