Art Rock Show – Birds of Passage (Week 12)

Read more...

Art Rock Show – Gulliver (Week 11)

Jim Lawson van Prog Rock Music Talk: “Gulliver is based on the novel by Jonathan Swift (Gulliver’s Travels), and deals with Gulliver’s adventures in 4 different lands.

Only Marco and Kimmo from the core trio are fully involved in Gulliver as Kimmo explained to me that Steve was busy with another project and I think that it may be with United Progressive Fraternity (UPF). Steve does appear on some tracks and there are 21 guest musicians also involved with the release.… Read more...

Art Rock Show – Liars (Week 10)

Prog Archives review: “Liars is a concept album telling a story about a pathological liar who uses a false theory that liars are only proof that there are alternate timelines. That’s definitely an interesting concept, and the story is expressed in an amazing beautiful vocal harmony created from layers of voices that sound very much like the harmonies in “Fleet Foxes” music, and since I am a fan of that innovative indie-folk band, I am also fond of the vocals here.… Read more...

Art Rock Show – Love Over Fear (Week 9)

Scott Medina van Sonic Perspectives: “Having recently celebrated their 40th Anniversary, Pendragon are one of the few bands of progressive rock’s second wave to have persevered and weathered the changes that several decades have thrown at them. Judging by their new release “Love Over Fear”, the aging process is only ripening their creativity and performance, resulting in a supremely satisfying listening experience and one of the jewels of their discography. Main man Nick Barrett has conjured up an inspiring set of songwriting which capitalizes on the strengths of the band and yet also explores new terrain.… Read more...
