Psychedelic, heavy, prog and more innovating sounds spanning the late 60s and the early 70s – Wednesday January 25th. Dan’s pick of the week: Acqua Fragile (Acqua Fragile), Garybaldi (Nuda), Genesis (Genesis Live), Family (Fearless), Panna Fredda (Uno) & Campo Di Marte (Concerto Zero).

Acqua Fragile was een progressieve rockband uit Parma, Italië. De band werd in 1971 opgericht door drie voormalige leden van Gli Immortali: zanger en gitarist Bernardo Lanzetti, gitarist Gino Campanini en drummer Piero Canavera. Ze werden vergezeld door voormalig I Moschettieri bassist Franz Dondi en toetsenist Maurizio Mori. Lanzetti’s zang heeft iets weg van Roger Chapman van Family en het album wordt vakkundig gespeeld door de toen al zeer ervaren spelers.

Art Rock Show – Passage to the Forest of Mysterious & “Birds (Week 27)

De Oekraïner Anatoly Kalugin steekt zijn voorliefde voor toetsen nooit onder stoelen of banken. Op de nieuwste plaat van een van zijn projecten Karfagen is dit niet anders. Passage To The Forest Of Mysterious is eerst en vooral een toetsenalbum. Zelden hebben de keyboards zo goed geklonken.

Fred Nieuwesteeg van Prog Wereld: “Kalugin is een sfeermaker en hij steekt hiermee direct van wal. Luchtig gitaargetokkel op een fluwelen bedje van toetsen met woordloze zang doet je onmiddellijk geloven dat je op weg bent naar het beloofde mysterieuze bos. Het stuk, Kingfisher & Dragonflies, is overigens wel het vierde deel van een epic, waarvan de andere delen op eerdere cd’s verschenen. Dat is ook Kalugin/Karfagen; lange nummers, opgebouwd uit meerdere delen, die soms later weer terugkomen.… Read more...
