Art Rock Show – Imperial (Week 9)

Het Zweedse Soen staat bekend als een prog-metal supergroep. Soen bestaat uit voormalige leden van Death, Opeth en Willowtree en bestaat sinds 2010, maar het eerste album kwam pas in 2012 uit.

Ralph Uffing van Prog Wereld: “Op de vorige vier albums evolueerde de band van een Tool-kloon tot een gevestigde progmetal act met een eigen geluid. Met name de albums “Lykaia” en “Lotus” konden overal op goede kritieken rekenen. Op “Imperial” wordt deze lijn voortgezet en levert Soen zijn beste werk tot nu toe af. De complexe stukken zijn nog volop aanwezig, de muziek is net zo stevig als altijd, maar de band klinkt op “Imperial” toegankelijker dan ooit. En dat is een absolute aanbeveling, want dit album bevat acht klasbakken van nummers en kent domweg geen zwakke momenten.… Read more...
