Een jaar na hun onstuimige debuut komt de Britse band Gentle Giant in 1971 met een nog ambitieuze opvolger. Acquiring the Taste heet de plaat en de band heeft in hun drang uniek te zijn, het meest symfonische werkstuk uit hun bestaan mee gecreëerd.

Dan’s pick of the week: Quella Vecchia Locanda (Quella Vecchia Locanda), I Giganti (Terra In Bocca), Museo Rosenbach (Zarathustra), Metamorfosi (Inferno), Banco Del Mutuo Succorso (Banco Del Mutuo Succorso) & Il Balletto Di Bronzo (Ys).

In 1970, in Rome, ontstond de band Quella Vecchia Locanda. Zoals veel Italiaanse progressieve rockbands, werd Quella Vecchia Locanda na vier jaar ontbonden. Te zonder twee meesterwerkjes uit de Italiaanse prog voor ons na te laten.

Peter Van Haerenborgh van Prog Wereld: “Daar de bandleden een sterke klassieke achtergrond hebben, mag het niet verrassen dat Quella Vecchia Locanda gretig gebruik maakt van invloeden uit de klassieke muziek.
